Synopsis

SAEL Industries has announced an investment of approximately INR 8,000 crore for establishing an integrated solar manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The plant will feature a 5 GW solar cell unit and a 5 GW module manufacturing line, boosting SAEL's overall solar manufacturing capacity to 8.5 GW. The facility will produce advanced TOPCon solar cells and assemble them into modules in-house. Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath has extended his support to the project, which aligns with the state's solar energy policy and vision for renewable energy leadership.

SAEL Industries is set to establish a large-scale solar manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with an estimated investment of INR 8,000 crore. The upcoming plant will include a 5 GW solar cell unit and a 5 GW module manufacturing line. Once operational, this facility will raise SAEL's total solar production capacity to 8.5 GW, making it a major contributor to India's clean energy infrastructure.

The company stated that the facility would produce Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) solar cells, widely regarded for their high-efficiency performance. These will be assembled into modules through an in-house production line, bolstering India's domestic solar equipment capabilities and reducing dependence on imports. This technological shift is in line with international efficiency benchmarks in photovoltaic manufacturing.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath has extended his backing to the project during a meeting with SAEL Co-Founder and Director Sukhbir Singh. He remarked that the state was taking a decisive and future-facing approach to green energy, positioning itself as a national leader in the renewable sector. The proposed plant is aligned with the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy and is anticipated to become a cornerstone in the state's strategy for clean energy development.

Sukhbir Singh noted that this facility would be a transformative step in enhancing SAEL's manufacturing scale and capabilities. He emphasised that the project not only strengthens the domestic supply chain but also supports the broader national agenda of self-reliance in solar technology. SAEL's existing renewable portfolio includes over 6.7 GW of solar independent power producer (IPP) assets spread across India.

Backed by strong political will and a robust policy environment in Uttar Pradesh, the project reinforces India's commitment to green energy while encouraging domestic innovation in solar manufacturing. As the country eyes reduced import dependence and enhanced efficiency standards, such projects are likely to shape the future of India's renewable ecosystem.
