Over 2,000 Ashiana flats in Panchkula, built for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families by HSVP, are set for renovation after years of deterioration. The project, approved by HSVP and the Municipal Corporation (MC), involves structural repairs and external civic improvements. HSVP has sanctioned two projects totaling over INR 3.6 crore for repairs and painting across various sectors. The MC will manage external works through four separate tenders. This initiative aims to improve living conditions and respond to residents' requests for updated infrastructure.
Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and the Municipal Corporation (MC) have recently undertaken a renovation project for numerous residential flats in Panchkula, Haryana. This initiative aims to address deteriorating building conditions and improve living standards for families.
The renovation project targets 2,072 Ashiana flats, originally constructed by HSVP (formerly HUDA) to house Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. Over time, these buildings deteriorated, showing crumbling structures, damaged boundary walls, and neglected parks and footpaths. The renovation effort involves two main entities.
HSVP has sanctioned two projects focusing on structural repairs and painting of outer balconies and walls. The first project, valued at INR 1.88 crore, covers 960 flats in Sector 20 and 256 flats in Abhaypur village. The second, costing nearly INR 1.75 crore, includes 224 flats in Pocket A and 312 flats in Pocket B of Sector 26, along with 320 flats in Sector 28.
The Municipal Corporation (MC) will handle external civic improvements, including re-carpeting internal roads, cleaning streets, and beautifying parks and footpaths within the housing societies. Four separate tenders will be issued for these specific works. Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal confirmed the development, noting his advocacy for these improvements based on residents' requests.
The project received clearance from HSVP after multiple discussions and a proposal passage in the MC. Officials have been instructed to use high-quality materials. Residents have requested completion before Diwali. Maintaining affordable housing infrastructure is a responsibility for urban development authorities. Renovating older housing projects is important for ensuring resident safety and improving the quality of life in government-provided housing schemes.
