Synopsis

The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to launch a unified billing system for property, water, and sewer taxes, expected to go live next week. This initiative aims to simplify the tax process for residents and reduce administrative burdens by consolidating separate bills into one. The system, aligning with state government guidelines, will integrate all necessary data and offer flexible online and offline payment options. This move is part of PMC's efforts to enhance transparency, citizen engagement, and operational efficiency, promising a streamlined approach to municipal tax collection.

The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) is preparing to introduce a new, unified billing system for city taxes. With the system expected to go live in the coming week, this initiative impacts residents in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, aiming to simplify the taxation process and reduce administrative effort by consolidating multiple charges into a single bill.

Under the previous system, property tax bills were issued in April, while water and sewer tax bills were generated separately by the Jal Kal department. The new system will combine all these into a single physical bill. All necessary data from municipal and water departments have been integrated into this new system. Updates have also been made to the corporation's official website and mobile application to support this change.

A key advantage of this unified bill is that it reduces the number of staff needed for bill distribution; now, only one person will be required to deliver the combined bill. Residents will also have flexible payment options, allowing them to pay all three taxes together or separately. For those paying online, a "both" option will be available on the digital platform for full payment.

Chief Tax Assessment Officer PK Mishra reassured residents that any individual payments made before the new system have been accounted for.

This initiative aligns with state government guidelines and is part of PMC's broader goal to enhance transparency, citizen engagement, and operational efficiency in municipal services. Residents are advised to check the official website and app for updates.
