Synopsis

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) this week dismantled 14 illegal constructions surrounding Bhoja Talav along the Narol-Aslali Highway in Vatva, freeing approximately 12,540 sq m of lake-land from encroachment. At the same time in Lambha ward, two unused public toilet blocks and five compound walls in Saijpur-Gopalpur were removed. In Jamalpur, a structure on a leased plot whose lease expired in 2009 was demolished under police protection as the occupant was reportedly a history sheathe. Meanwhile, the AMC's solid waste management team inspected 289 units city-wide, issued littering notices in 116 cases, and seized 6 kg of banned plastic.

The AMC's Town Development Officer led the clearing of unauthorised buildings on and around Bhoja Talav in Vatva. Fourteen structures were demolished, freeing about 12,540 sq m of lake land that had been encroached upon. In Lambha ward, the civic body also removed two unused public toilet blocks on Gamtal Road in Saijpur Gopalpur along with five surrounding compound walls.

In Jamalpur, the AMC demolished an illegal structure built on a leased plot whose tenure ended in 2009. The operation was conducted under police protection because the occupier was reportedly a history sheathe, and the construction had no valid permission.

Parallel to this, the AMC's solid waste management team inspected 289 units across the city. They issued 116 notices for public littering, seized 6 kg of banned plastic, and sealed a restaurant in the Chandlodia area for cleanliness violations and littering.

These actions add to the AMC's ongoing anti-encroachment efforts. Earlier this year in May, the corporation demolished 292 illegal structures in the Makarba area, reclaiming public land. Also in April-May, thousands of encroachments around Chandola Lake were removed in a large scale operation.
