Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) announced earlier this week that it had finalised the signing of a 78-key brownfield hotel under its Gateway brand in Patnitop, located in Jammu and Kashmir. The company noted that this new Gateway resort, which will hold the distinction of having the largest room inventory in the destination, is intended to address increasing tourism-driven demand from Punjab, Delhi NCR and Jammu.
IHCL explained that Patnitop's role as an access point to the Himalayan region aligns with its broader strategy of strengthening the Gateway brand presence in high-potential leisure markets. The company added through its official communication that its leadership viewed the partnership with FIL Industries as a valuable addition to its expansion plans for the region.
With this signing, IHCL's portfolio in Jammu and Kashmir has now expanded to 12 hotels, of which six are under various stages of development.
The choice of a brownfield development underscores the company's intent to accelerate expansion while leveraging existing site potential. By partnering with FIL Industries, IHCL builds on a long-term approach to diversifying its portfolio in strategically located hill markets. As tourism in Jammu and Kashmir continues to strengthen, IHCL's broadened footprint positions the company to capture future demand across multiple traveller segments.
