Synopsis

Authorities in Palghar district have issued final public notices to landowners in Varor and Chinchani for the Greenfield Highway linked to the Vadhavan Port project. The move follows the completion of the main survey and preliminary land measurements earlier this week by the Deputy Commissioner of Land Records. Officials indicated that pending assessments relate to unverified assets such as structures, trees, wells, and fisheries that landholders had not declared in earlier inspections. The administration has scheduled fresh evaluation sessions and directed landowners to attend with accurate boundary markings and documentation.

Authorities in Maharashtra's Palghar district issued final public notices earlier this week to landholders in Varor and Chinchani in Dahanu taluka regarding the acquisition of their land for the Greenfield Highway associated with the Vadhavan Port development. According to officials, the Deputy Commissioner of Land Records has already completed the main survey together with initial land measurements, marking a significant step in advancing the project.

Mahesh Sagar, who serves as the Competent Authority for the Greenfield Highway and is also the Deputy Collector (Land Acquisition) for the Surya Project in Dahanu, stated that the notices were issued to address the pending assessment of resources located on affected land parcels. He mentioned that land measurement for the project had been completed and that the final notice to impacted landholders in Dahanu had now been dispatched. He further indicated that acquisition notifications under Section 3(D) of the National Highways Act, 1956 had been published in the Government of India Gazette during an earlier stage of the process.

Sagar explained that the delays encountered so far were largely due to landowners not marking their boundaries or failing to provide details of assets such as structures, trees, wells, and commercial fisheries during earlier assessments. As part of the next phase, officials have scheduled evaluations for Varor across the coming days, followed immediately afterward by a separate assessment window for Chinchani.

Authorities have instructed landholders to attend these sessions with proper boundary markings and all relevant documents to avoid complications. The notice clearly states that anyone who fails to appear will be subjected to a unilateral assessment, and objections or complaints concerning the counting and verification process will not be considered after this stage.

The Greenfield Highway, linked to the upcoming Vadhavan Port, has been progressing through statutory steps for some time, with surveys and notifications already completed. With compliance from landholders now being emphasised, the project's land-related procedures are expected to advance more predictably in the coming weeks.
