Synopsis

Air India Express will start flight operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport from December 25, with the first service to Bengaluru. The airline will operate daily flights to Bengaluru and five weekly flights to New Delhi, both of which are among its strongest domestic hubs. It also plans to double frequencies on these routes from January 2026. This expansion aligns with the carrier's recent network additions from Bengaluru to several domestic and international destinations. The move is expected to support the new airport's initial traffic growth and improve regional connectivity.

Air India Express has confirmed that it will begin commercial services from Navi Mumbai International Airport on December 25, starting with a flight to Bengaluru. The airline mentioned that the launch fits into its ongoing network expansion plan and supports the developing aviation ecosystem around the new airport. Bengaluru continues to be one of its most important hubs within the domestic network.

The airline noted that it will operate daily flights from Navi Mumbai to Bengaluru and five flights a week to New Delhi. These two cities form its largest domestic hubs, and the carrier expects steady demand on both routes as operations stabilise at the new airport.

From January 2026, Air India Express plans to increase frequencies to twice-daily services on the Bengaluru and New Delhi routes. The airline indicated that the scaling of operations will be done in phases, based on demand and airport readiness. This phased approach has also been used by the carrier at other airports during previous expansions.

In recent months, the airline has expanded its Bengaluru connections to Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jodhpur and Udaipur. It has also strengthened its international presence by operating flights from Bengaluru to Bangkok, Jeddah, Kuwait and Riyadh. These additions reflect the airline's effort to balance domestic and international growth.

Air India Express currently operates over 500 flights a day, covering 45 domestic and 16 international destinations. Its fleet consists of 115 aircraft, including 75 Boeing 737s and 40 Airbus A320s, forming the backbone of its narrow-body operations.

Managing Director Aloke Singh said the airline viewed Navi Mumbai Airport as an important addition to the region's aviation capacity. He added that increased capacity for Mumbai and its surrounding areas would help restore growth momentum for one of India's busiest travel corridors. He also mentioned that more flights would be gradually introduced as operations expand.
