BirlaNu has announced plans to develop a greenfield fibre cement board plant in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district. The decision, made public during the past week, reflects the company's focus on expanding its manufacturing base and supporting regional economic growth. The first phase includes an investment of around INR 127 crore and is expected to generate nearly 600 direct and indirect jobs. The facility will use fly ash from coal-based thermal power plants, supporting circular-economy practices. The company also plans a second-phase expansion to add PVC pipes, fittings, and construction chemicals units.
BirlaNu recently confirmed that it will set up a greenfield fibre cement board plant in Nellore district, marking a notable addition to its manufacturing network in Andhra Pradesh. The company noted that this step aligns with its plan to widen its presence in the building-materials sector while supporting local economic activity.
Akshat Seth, Managing Director and CEO of BirlaNu, stated through a press release that the new plant represents an important step in the company's expansion efforts and will contribute to employment generation in the region. He explained that the unit is being designed with advanced technology and sustainable production processes to improve the supply of fibre cement boards for both domestic use and export markets.
The company plans to invest about INR 127 crore in the first phase to establish a large-scale facility. This phase is expected to create close to 600 direct and indirect jobs, strengthening the local workforce and industrial ecosystem. The plant will also utilise fly ash sourced from coal-based thermal power stations, a move that reduces waste and supports circular-economy practices across the Nellore industrial belt.
BirlaNu has also outlined plans for a second development phase at the site. This will involve setting up additional units dedicated to the production of PVC pipes, fittings, and construction chemicals. The expansion is intended to build a more integrated manufacturing hub and diversify the company's product range within the building-materials space.
