Synopsis

Trident Group has approved a INR 2,000-crore expansion plan in Punjab to boost industrial activity and employment. The company will invest INR 1,500 crore in Barnala to scale up terry towel production and upgrade its paper manufacturing facilities. Another INR 500 crore will be deployed in Mohali for a new corporate office and a skill development centre. The initiative is expected to create around 2,000 jobs, with a strong focus on hiring semi-skilled women from rural areas. Chairman Rajinder Gupta said the investment reflects Trident's commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development, marking one of the company's largest integrated expansion plans in the state.

Trident Group revealed earlier this week that it had approved an expansion plan worth INR 2,000 crore in Punjab, aimed at accelerating industrial activity and stimulating job creation across the state. According to the company's regulatory filing, the investment will primarily support its operations in Barnala, where INR 1,500 crore is planned to be deployed to scale up terry towel production and upgrade the existing paper manufacturing infrastructure. The company has been steadily expanding its textile and paper verticals over the past decade, and the latest move adds to its earlier capacity enhancements undertaken in the region.

In addition to the Barnala investment, Trident Group will allocate INR 500 crore in Mohali, where it intends to establish a new corporate office along with a centre dedicated to skill and capacity development. The company conveyed in indirect remarks that this initiative would reinforce its presence across multiple business segments while generating around 2,000 employment opportunities. It noted that the hiring focus would particularly support semi-skilled women from rural areas, underlining its ongoing emphasis on women's empowerment and inclusive growth.

The filing further stated that the expansion underscores the group's broader commitment to driving industrial progress, strengthening workforce participation, and promoting sustainable development within Punjab. The announcement was shared by Rajinder Gupta, Chairman and Promoter of Trident Group, during a media briefing conducted with the participation of Punjab's Industry and Commerce Minister, Sanjeev Arora. The company has in previous years announced similar interventions to expand textile output, but the current plan marks one of its largest integrated investments in the state.
