The project covers the 514.36?km to 534.80?km markers and is expected to improve regional connectivity, enhance road safety, and facilitate smoother transport of goods and people. The company plans to complete the work in four months, adhering to engineering and safety standards, supporting NHIDCL's ongoing efforts to strengthen highway infrastructure in the northeast.
J?Infratech Ltd, a Gurugram-based infrastructure company, has been awarded a highway reconstruction project by the state-owned National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL). The contract, valued at INR 116?crore, was confirmed when J?Infratech received the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from NHIDCL.
The project involves rebuilding a 20.44?km stretch of the Jhanji-Demow section on the old NH?37 in Assam, specifically between the 514.36?km and 534.80?km markers. This section is strategically significant as it links several economic, industrial, and residential areas in Upper Assam, facilitating better mobility for residents and businesses alike.
Abhishek Singla, GM of Business Development at J Infratech, stated that the company aims to complete the reconstruction within four months while maintaining high engineering and safety standards. The work will include resurfacing, improving drainage systems, and strengthening the road structure to ensure durability and reduce maintenance needs.
J?Infratech has considerable experience in highway construction and maintenance, making it suitable for executing projects that require timely completion and technical precision. The company has previously undertaken similar infrastructure projects in different states, contributing to safer and more efficient road networks.
NHIDCL has been actively improving highway connectivity in the northeastern region. Earlier this year, the Union Cabinet approved an INR 22,864?crore greenfield highway project under the Hybrid Annuity Model to connect Meghalaya and Assam, highlighting the government's focus on boosting transport infrastructure in strategically important areas.
By awarding this contract, NHIDCL aims to strengthen road connectivity in Assam, reduce travel time, and support local economic activity. Once completed, the project is expected to provide smoother and safer travel for daily commuters and transporters moving goods across the region.
