General Manager Ashok Kumar Verma of Northern Railway undertook a detailed inspection of the Srinagar-Baramulla stretch of the USBRL project earlier this week. He was joined by Divisional Railway Manager Jammu, Vivek Kumar, and other senior officials. According to Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Jammu Division, the visit focused on assessing station facilities, passenger amenities, the condition of platforms and the overall readiness of the section for smooth operations.
The inspection covered nearly every station along the 60-kilometre route. Verma examined the upkeep of infrastructure, the functioning of essential services and the adherence to established safety practices. He conveyed that maintaining strong safety standards and ensuring consistent quality in ongoing works remain essential for the project's progress.
As part of the tour, the GM also visited the goods terminal at Anantnag, which plays a significant role in freight movement within the region. Officials at the terminal were instructed to ensure efficient handling of cargo and maintain uninterrupted operations. Verma highlighted that both passenger services and freight facilities must operate reliably for the route to serve its intended purpose.
He directed teams working on the project to monitor progress closely and maintain steady momentum toward completing the remaining tasks within the expected timelines. The inspection reinforced the railway administration's intent to keep project execution disciplined and well-coordinated across all units involved in the USBRL work.
