Synopsis

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has relaunched a focused, ward-wise effort to issue e-Khata certificates for all 2,27,883 properties under its limits. So far, about 61,117 certificates have been granted mostly A-Khatas, with a smaller number of B-Khatas. The corporation has appointed nodal officers in its nine zones, aims to process applications in just a few days, and runs a weekly Friday campaign. Past lapses, income recovery, and corruption allegations have driven the urgency.

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is intensifying its e-Khata issuance campaign to ensure every property in the city, numbering around 2,27,883, gets the legal documentation. According to MCC officials, 61,117 e-Khatas have been issued so far 56,922 under A?Khata and 4,195 under B?Khata.

To accelerate the process, MCC has designated nodal officers in each of its nine zones. The goal is to issue e-Khata certificates within three to four days of receiving valid applications.

As part of outreach, MCC is organising awareness meetings in every ward. Former corporators are leading these sessions to guide residents through the application process. Zonal officers are also helping people apply on the spot.

A weekly e-Khata drive runs every Friday from 3pm to 6pm. This was introduced after repeated public dissatisfaction over delays, server crashes, and login problems in earlier weeks. Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif has set a target of issuing at least 1 lakh e-Khatas by the end of the current financial year.

The campaign is also helping MCC recover dues. In a previous phase, property owners had to clear five years of pending property tax and water cess before getting an e?Khata, resulting in a revenue boost of INR 1.7 crore in a single month.

However, the drive has been shadowed by allegations of corruption and misuse.

Mysuru's efforts are also drawing state?wide recognition. According to local reports, the district ranks among the top in Karnataka for e?Khata registrations partially thanks to aggressive public engagement and the requirement that e?Khatas be secured before property transactions.
