Synopsis

AeroNero and Bengaluru Airport City Limited have signed a term sheet to set up the AeroNero Innovation Hub and Corporate Showcase at Kempegowda International Airport. The hub will demonstrate and test deep-tech air-to-water systems such as Bubble, Drizzle, Thunder, AirWell and AQUAIR, which produce potable water from atmospheric moisture using condensation, desiccation and hybrid renewable energy. AeroNero said the partnership marks a major step toward advancing sustainable, climate-resilient water solutions. Bengaluru Airport City noted that the hub aligns with its vision for a smart, deep-tech urban ecosystem. The centre will also serve as a multi-stakeholder platform, supporting research, collaboration and real-world validation within the airport's sustainability-focused environment.

AeroNero and Bengaluru Airport City Limited have formalised their partnership by signing a term sheet to establish the AeroNero Innovation Hub and Corporate Showcase within Bengaluru Airport City at Kempegowda International Airport. Positioned against the backdrop of ongoing global climate deliberations, the agreement was framed as a decisive step towards advancing India's sustainable water future. Both organisations highlighted that this collaboration demonstrates real-economy climate action by anchoring deep-tech air water generation technologies at a major national gateway.

The planned hub will operate as a live demonstration space and research centre featuring AeroNero's portfolio of air-to-water systems. These include technologies such as Bubble, Drizzle, Thunder, AirWell and AQUAIR, developed to generate potable water from atmospheric moisture through condensation and desiccation processes. The systems integrate hybrid renewable energy platforms and IoT/AI-enabled performance tracking. With its location in Bengaluru Airport City, the initiative aims to support real-world validation, operational optimisation and deeper stakeholder engagement for low-carbon water solutions.

Dr Durga Das, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AeroNero, stated that collaborating with Bengaluru Airport City marked a significant advancement for the company's global mission to make sustainable water accessible. He noted that the upcoming hub would act as a dynamic space where engineering and imagination converge to demonstrate how air-to-water solutions can create measurable environmental impact. He added that the platform was expected to encourage collaboration, accelerate innovation and support progress towards climate-resilient water access for communities.

Rao Munukutla, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bengaluru Airport City Limited, explained that the vision for Bengaluru Airport City focused on building a sustainable, smart and future-ready deep-tech urban ecosystem. He said this ambition aligned with AeroNero's innovation-led approach to sustainability. He observed that Global Capability Centres were increasingly driving deep-tech research and that Bengaluru Airport City was emerging as a preferred base for such development. He highlighted that the business parks planned across twenty-eight million square feet, including two million already under construction, were designed to bring technology, sustainability and collaboration into a unified urban environment. Hosting the AeroNero Innovation Hub, he added, would enable the airport city to demonstrate practical water-conservation solutions to the corporate community and travellers.

Ricky Kej, three-time Grammy Award-winning composer and Sustainability Ambassador for AeroNero, expressed that innovations such as those developed by AeroNero were essential for addressing global water challenges while safeguarding ecosystems. He noted that he felt privileged to contribute to the partnership's sustainability-focused agenda.

Ravi Karkara, Chief Strategy Officer at AeroNero and Co-Founder of the Global Air Water Generation Initiative, remarked that the Innovation Hub would bridge the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and real-world deployment. He explained that the initiative would refine product performance, integrate AI-driven efficiency enhancements and demonstrate tangible progress towards water security and net-zero objectives.

The signing followed a series of productive meetings between the AeroNero leadership and the BACL team. The forthcoming hub will also operate as a multi-stakeholder engagement centre intended to bring together corporates, public bodies, academia and research organisations to co-create scalable solutions for urban water and critical-facility infrastructure.

Bengaluru Airport's sustainability credentials were also highlighted during the announcement. The airport is water positive, treating and recycling more water than it consumes. It already operates on fully renewable energy and has achieved net energy-neutral status. Additional initiatives include the ban on single-use plastics across food and beverage outlets, extensive afforestation and landscaping efforts and a commitment to recycling all waste generated on the campus.
