Synopsis

Fly91, the Goa-based regional airline, plans to induct three more ATR 72-600 aircraft and launch new routes by March next year, taking its fleet to seven. The digital-native carrier, which began operations earlier this year, currently flies four aircraft and runs over 120 weekly flights, including services under the government's regional connectivity scheme. Fly91 now connects eight cities-Goa, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Sindhudurg, Solapur, Agatti and Jalgaon-and aims to expand further. Backed by INR 250 crore in funding, the airline has already carried 1.7 lakh passengers on more than 3,500 flights. Over the next five years, it plans to scale up to 30 aircraft and operate from multiple bases.

Fly91, the regional airline headquartered in Goa, recently declared that it intends to induct three more aircraft and launch new routes by the end of March next year. The carrier, which commenced commercial operations earlier this year, has been widening its network gradually and currently operates four ATR 72-600 aircraft. Designed as a digital-native airline, it functions without a traditional call centre.

Manoj Chacko, the airline's founder, managing director and chief executive officer, mentioned in a recent interaction that Fly91 plans to add the three aircraft before the close of the next financial year, which will take its overall fleet size to seven. Of its existing four aircraft, two have been purchased outright and two are on lease arrangements. The airline operates more than 120 weekly flights, including services under the government's regional air-connectivity programme, and is preparing to start operating the fourth aircraft.

Chacko remarked that the country's aviation sector is well positioned for growth and added that the airline does not intend to be constrained by a rigid business model. Fly91, operated by Just Udo Aviation Pvt Ltd, currently links eight destinations-Goa, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Sindhudurg, Solapur, Agatti and Jalgaon-and is preparing to add more cities to its network.

He also said the airline has received funding totalling INR 250 crore. When asked about market competition, he indicated that rivalry in the sector is rarely ideal and noted that each airline must decide how to respond to it, adding that the company does not believe in aggressive posturing.

During its first year, the carrier operated more than 3,500 flights and transported nearly 1.7 lakh passengers. Over the next five years, Fly91 aims to grow its fleet to 30 aircraft and operate from multiple bases, with each base expected to cover 8-10 cities.

Fly91's growth trajectory reflects a strategic push to strengthen regional connectivity while expanding its footprint across emerging and underserved routes. With additional aircraft set to join the fleet, the airline is positioning itself to scale operations steadily and enhance service frequency across its network. Backed by INR 250 crore in funding and guided by a digital-first model, the carrier intends to deepen its presence over the short and medium term. Its longer-term plan to operate 30 aircraft across multiple bases underscores its commitment to building a substantial regional aviation network.
