Synopsis

Chhattisgarh has unveiled the Anjor Vision 2047, a long-term roadmap to transform the state into a developed region by India's centenary of independence. The vision identifies 13 priority sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure, and establishes 10 missions to drive growth. Developed through public participation, it sets near-term targets until 2030, mid-term goals to 2035, and long-term objectives for 2047. The plan highlights welfare measures, industrial investments, and regional development, while aiming to tackle longstanding challenges like Naxalism and uneven regional growth.

Chhattisgarh's government presented the Anjor Vision 2047 during the winter session of the legislative assembly, describing it as a structured framework to guide the state's development in the coming decades. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai noted that the vision aligns with the national goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. Inputs from farmers, youth, women, entrepreneurs, and traders were incorporated, reflecting a participatory governance approach. The vision identifies 13 priority sectors such as education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and technology, supported by 10 missions designed to advance progress in these areas.

The state leadership highlighted recent achievements, including welfare initiatives for marginalised groups, expansion of government jobs for over 10,000 youth, and energy sector investments of INR 3.5 lakh crore. Sai also noted that a new industrial policy introduced last year has attracted proposals worth INR 8 lakh crore. Measures to promote eco-tourism, the Bastar Pandum festival, and the Bastar Olympics are helping give the region a renewed identity. Naxalism is expected to be significantly reduced by March 2026, reflecting the efforts of security forces alongside central government support.

Finance Minister OP Choudhary emphasised that the vision focuses on prosperity, self-reliance, and inclusive development, incorporating Chhattisgarh's social, economic, cultural, and environmental characteristics. During the session, senior BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar raised concerns about gaps in areas such as women empowerment, law and order, poverty elimination, and public health. He highlighted that despite claims of 44% forest cover, significant land leased for mining and other non-forest uses is still recorded as forest. Chandrakar also pointed to a backlog of 53,000 revenue cases, some pending over two decades, and issues with urban schemes like 24X7 water supply and AMRUT. Public health concerns, including tuberculosis and filariasis, were raised alongside the need for better skill development and local job creation.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao noted that the assembly discussion reflects the government's commitment to the state's future and expressed disappointment at the opposition's absence. He stated that Chhattisgarh is now progressing rapidly, contrasting with past periods when development remained limited, including before the state's creation in 2000 under former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
