The agreement was formalised at the Italy–India Business Forum in Mumbai in the presence of senior leaders from both countries. The MoU also focuses on sharing insights on investment opportunities, mergers, acquisitions and startups, reinforcing long-term trade and commercial ties between the two economies.

SIMEST, the CDP Group company supporting the international expansion of Italian enterprises, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Chamber of Commerce, one of the country’s oldest industry bodies. The agreement was finalised during the Italy–India Business Forum held in Mumbai, marking an important step in strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

The MoU was signed by Regina Corradini D’Arienzo, Chief Executive of SIMEST, and Rajeev Singh, Director General of the ICC, in the presence of Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, and India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal. The partnership is intended to enhance cooperation between Italian and Indian enterprises, encourage cross-border investments and support new industrial and commercial linkages.

Under the framework, both organisations will promote collaborative initiatives, share insights on investment opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, industrial projects and emerging startups, and facilitate the use of SIMEST’s financial instruments to support Italian firms expanding into India. The agreement also seeks to establish a long-term network connecting business communities in both countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Regina Corradini D’Arienzo said the MoU demonstrated SIMEST’s commitment to supporting Italian companies in a strategically important market such as India, noting that the partnership aligns with broader efforts led by the Italian Foreign Ministry and associated institutions to strengthen global economic cooperation. She highlighted that the agreement would broaden opportunities for Italian enterprises seeking growth in markets offering strong value potential.

Rajeev Singh remarked that India remained a priority country under the Italian Foreign Ministry’s Export Action Plan and observed that SIMEST had taken tangible steps to strengthen commercial ties, including opening an office in Delhi and launching a dedicated initiative to support Italian investment earlier this year.

The agreement underscores the shared ambition of Italy and India to expand trade, investment and industrial cooperation, providing a foundation for sustained economic collaboration and enhanced competitiveness for businesses in both nations.
