The initiative is being rolled out under NAFED's Aatmanirbhar Dal Yojana, which focuses on direct procurement from farmers and removes middlemen from the process. Registration is mandatory and can be completed through the e-Samridhi app or NAFED centres.

The Uttar Pradesh government recently announced that the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) is set to operationalise 50 urad procurement centres across 17 districts of the state, enabling farmers to sell their produce at the minimum support price of INR 7,800 per quintal. Registration for the procurement process has already commenced, and purchases are expected to begin shortly.

The procurement will be carried out under NAFED's Aatmanirbhar Dal Yojana, which focuses on direct purchase from farmers to ensure fair pricing and remove the role of intermediaries. According to the government, the procurement drive will continue until January 29, 2026, providing an extended window for farmers to sell their produce at assured prices.

Officials said that payments for procured urad will be transferred directly to farmers bank accounts within three working days of the sale, ensuring timely compensation and financial certainty. Only registered farmers will be eligible to participate in the scheme, and the government has emphasised that the entire process has been designed to be transparent and farmer-friendly.

NAFED's state head, Rohit Jaiman, said the procurement system is being implemented swiftly and efficiently under the guidance of Managing Director Deepak Agarwal, with a clear focus on ensuring that eligible farmers are able to benefit without procedural delays. He added that farmers can bring their produce directly to the designated procurement centres, eliminating dependence on private traders or commission agents.

Preparations for procurement have been completed across districts including Lalitpur, Jhansi, Mahoba, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Badaun, Bareilly, Hardoi, Unnao, Lucknow, Rampur, Sambhal, Bulandshahr, Moradabad, Sonbhadra, Sitapur and Shahjahanpur. The authorities said adequate arrangements have been made at these locations to handle farmer arrivals and ensure smooth transactions.

Farmers can complete their registration through the e-Samridhi mobile application or by visiting nearby NAFED centres. Additional information is also available through the dedicated farmer helpline, the government said.
