Synopsis

Nine companies have started work on new IT projects in Visakhapatnam with a combined planned investment of about INR 3,700 crore. The Andhra Pradesh government recently laid the foundation for these developments, which are expected to generate nearly 41,700 jobs. Cognizant will invest INR 1,583 crore to build a new IT campus at Kapuluppada IT Hills, planned in three phases and designed to focus on AI, digital engineering, and cloud services. Until the main facility is ready, Cognizant will operate from a temporary office at Rushikonda IT Park.

The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated a new round of IT investments in Visakhapatnam after laying the foundation for nine companies, including Cognizant. The total investment value of these projects stands at around INR 3,700 crore, and the developments are expected to create approximately 41,700 jobs. This marks another step in strengthening Visakhapatnam's growing technology footprint.

Cognizant will invest INR 1,583 crore to build a large IT campus at Kapuluppada IT Hills on over 21 acres allotted by the government. As stated in the official note, the company mentioned that the project would be executed in three phases and will eventually support employment for nearly 8,000 people. The campus will focus on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital engineering, and cloud-based services.

While construction of the main campus takes place, Cognizant will operate temporarily from the Mahati Fintech Building in Rushikonda IT Park, Hill-2. This interim office was inaugurated by IT Minister Nara Lokesh and will accommodate around 1,000 employees. The temporary setup will allow the company to begin its operations in the region with teams working on AI-related and engineering solutions.

Along with Cognizant, foundation stones were also laid for companies such as Tech Thammina, Satva Developers, and Imaginnovate Tech Solutions India. These firms are part of the broader plan to bring more IT activity and job opportunities to the port city. Visakhapatnam has been witnessing increased interest from technology companies in recent years, supported by government-led infrastructure and IT park expansions.
