The Gujarat government has entered into a memorandum of understanding with GIFT City Company Ltd and Henox IT & Data Centres Pvt Ltd, a technology company headquartered in Sharjah, to develop a Cable Landing Station (CLS) in Dhuvaran, Anand district. The agreement, formalized during a regional technology and AI conference in Gandhinagar, is backed by an estimated investment of INR 1,317 crore.
Officials highlighted that the project is expected to generate more than 1,300 direct and indirect employment opportunities, supporting the states vision to become a leading technology and digital hub. The CLS will serve as a crucial infrastructure point, linking international subsea communication cables with Indias domestic network, ensuring faster and more reliable connectivity for high-bandwidth applications.
The project is designed to support a range of technology-driven services, including cloud computing, data centres, AI, machine learning, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and other advanced digital platforms. By providing a stable and high-capacity data route, the CLS is expected to facilitate smooth operations for enterprise-scale technology deployments in the state.
During the signing, the Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, and Deputy Chief Minister, Harsh Sanghavi, highlighted that the CLS will strengthen Gujarat's attractiveness for hyperscale and enterprise data centre investments. The project is part of broader efforts to enhance India's international digital connectivity, align with global standards, and support the country's digital self-reliance initiatives.
Representatives from Henox, including CEO Masood M. Sharif Mahmood and Rasheed Al Ali, met with state officials and the UAE Ambassador to India to discuss the technical and operational aspects of the CLS. Senior state officials including Jayanti Ravi, Mamta Verma, Avantika Singh, Vikrant Pandey, and P. Bharathi were present to oversee project planning and coordination.
The CLS will also play a key role in supporting smart city projects and large-scale digital services, by providing high-speed data transmission and reducing latency for critical applications. Experts say the project could position Gujarat as a gateway for global data traffic, making it a strategic location for international technology investments.
