Synopsis

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated Electrotherm Park in South Bopal, a newly developed 11,600 sq m public garden created through a PPP partnership between Electrotherm (India) Ltd and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Designed around a river-inspired layout, the park features open green spaces, a water channel along the jogging track, age-specific play zones, an open-air gym, pet park, traditional-games corners and shaded seating areas. With over 22,800 plants, including fruit trees and flowering species, the space promotes biodiversity and nature-based learning. Company leaders said the park aims to encourage healthier lifestyles and create an inclusive, community-focused urban environment.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated Electrotherm Park earlier this week in South Bopal, marking the opening of a new 11,600-square-metre public garden developed by Electrotherm (India) Ltd in partnership with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation under the PPP model. The project reflects the company’s focus on strengthening community infrastructure and supporting environmentally responsible urban development. The layout follows a river-inspired design, bringing together connected open spaces meant for leisure, movement, and community interaction. The main entry plaza, designed with a fountain and a signature installation, introduces a simple but well-planned landscape that balances greenery with public utility.

One of the central features of the park is a water channel that flows gently beside the jogging track, offering walkers and runners a calm experience through the sound of moving water. The park includes two dedicated play zones—one for toddlers aged 18 months to six years and another for children aged seven to thirteen. Both areas feature age-specific play equipment created to support physical activity and cognitive development.

Additional amenities include a pet park, an open-air gym, upgraded traditional-games corners, and shaded seating pavilions designed for all age groups. These facilities underline the project’s intention to make the space inclusive and accessible. Speaking about the development, Managing Director Suraj Bhandari said the park had been created to encourage healthier lifestyles while keeping nature at the centre of the design, and he expressed gratitude to Amit Shah for inaugurating the project. He noted that the park is meant to serve as a public space for leisure and fitness across different age groups.

The garden introduces more than 22,800 plants, including 21 species of large trees, 14 types of fruit trees, and a range of flowering plants. This plantation effort has transformed barren land into a refreshed micro-climate, supporting biodiversity and giving children the chance to learn about agriculture through orchard-based learning spaces. The project was carried out under the leadership of Suraj Bhandari, with close involvement from Sanjay Joshi, Group Vice President, HR & Admin, who worked on the project from concept to execution. Strategic guidance throughout the process was provided by Shailesh Bhandari, Executive Vice Chairman.

Electrotherm Park now stands as a carefully planned urban space designed to support community well-being and environmental improvement.
