The Haryana government has released INR 1,700 crore to HSVP and multiple metropolitan development authorities to support ongoing city infrastructure work. This comes after the state had earmarked INR 3,000 crore in its 2025-26 budget from the external development charges (EDC) fund for major cities, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Panchkula and Hisar. The planning department has already used a large share of the existing fund for development work. The state had also allocated INR 2,188 crore in the previous year to metropolitan agencies, reflecting a continued focus on improving urban services and core infrastructure.
The Haryana government has released INR 1,700 crore to the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and several metropolitan development authorities to support active urban development projects across major cities. The state administration said that improving city infrastructure remains one of its main priorities, especially as population growth and service demands continue to rise.
In the 2025-26 budget, the government had announced an allocation of INR 3,000 crore from the external development charges (EDC) fund for HSVP and the development authorities of Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Panchkula and Hisar. This allocation was aimed at strengthening external development work such as roads, drainage, utilities and public service networks. Officials from the town and country planning department shared that steady progress has already been made in using these funds.
In the ongoing financial year, INR 1,500 crore had already been released earlier to several metropolitan authorities from the EDC fund. A fresh release of INR 1,700 crore has now been made to support development activities in multiple urban estates. The latest release includes INR 700 crore for HSVP, INR 700 crore for the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, INR 170 crore for the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority, INR 30 crore for the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority, INR 80 crore for the Sonipat Metropolitan Development Authority and INR 20 crore for the Hisar Metropolitan Development Authority.
The government also highlighted the work done in the previous financial year, when INR 2,188 crore was provided to metropolitan development bodies for improving various urban estates. These funds supported projects related to basic infrastructure, public services and city upgrades, which now form the base for current and upcoming development plans.
