Synopsis

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has stepped up deep-cleaning and dust-control work across MIDC corridors as part of its wider air-pollution mitigation plan. Beyond routine sanitation, internal MIDC roads are now being cleaned using mechanical brushes and flapper machines, followed by washing with treated water. In Ghansoli ward, a major drive covered the Rabale MIDC stretch from MTNL to Kalpana Hotel, with 30 workers deployed and an encap vehicle used to spray fine mist to reduce airborne dust. A similar effort was carried out on the Siddharthnagar-Fibre Company route. Acting on directives from Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, ward-level teams are intensifying road-cleaning to improve local air quality.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has intensified deep-cleaning and dust-control operations across MIDC corridors, complementing its routine sanitation measures and ongoing air-pollution mitigation efforts. Along with the major arterial roads, internal routes within the MIDC zones are also undergoing systematic cleaning. As part of this exercise, accumulated soil is removed using mechanical brushes and flapper machines, followed by washing the road surfaces with treated water.

In Ghansoli ward, a focused cleanliness drive was carried out in the Rabale MIDC area. The operation covered the main road in front of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited and extended from Vrushali Hotel to Kalpana Hotel. A team of 30 sanitation workers was deployed for the activity. In addition, an encap vehicle was used to spray fine water mists into the air to reduce suspended dust particles and improve local air quality.

A similar deep-cleaning initiative was also executed on the Siddharthnagar-Fibre Company stretch in Rabale. Along with clearing dust and debris from the carriageway, the teams removed construction and demolition waste dumped along the road edges.

These operations follow the directives issued by Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde during the review meeting held on 25 November. Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar and supervision of Solid Waste Management Deputy Commissioner Dr Ajay Gadade, special teams have been constituted at the ward level. Through the respective ward officers and assistant commissioners, these teams are conducting intensified road-cleaning and dust-suppression drives in addition to routine daily sanitation, with the aim of reducing air pollution across the civic limits.
