IHG Hotels - Resorts inked a deal for a 100-key Holiday Inn Resort in Lonavala, leveraging the hill station's strong leisure appeal. Meanwhile, Treebo Hospitality Ventures signed a 50-key Mercure hotel in Mussoorie under its Accor partnership. The developments highlight expanding hotel pipelines across key leisure and business destinations as operators scale to meet growing domestic travel demand.

India's hospitality market saw a significant boost as three major hotel operators announced new developments across Noida, Lonavala and Mussoorie. Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) confirmed the signing of a greenfield Taj hotel comprising 150 rooms alongside 74 Taj-branded residences in Noida, marking a strategic expansion in the fast-growing Noida-Greater Noida corridor.

The company noted that Noida and Greater Noida are undergoing rapid transformation due to major infrastructure upgrades and the development of the upcoming international airport. These factors continue to drive substantial hotel demand, prompting IHCL to strengthen its portfolio in the region. IHCL's Executive Vice-President for Real Estate and Development, Suma Venkatesh, stated that the new signing aligns with the company's strategy to scale its footprint in critical growth markets. She also mentioned that the company was pleased to collaborate with Gulshan Group on what has been described as a landmark development. With this addition, IHCL's presence in Noida and Greater Noida will expand to five hotels, including one currently under development.

In a separate development, IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the signing of a management agreement with Emproy Hospitality LLP for a 100-key Holiday Inn Resort in Lonavala. The new resort aims to tap into Lonavala's strong position as one of western India's most popular leisure destinations. Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the signing reflects the company's commitment to expanding its presence in high-demand leisure locations and offering travellers experiences backed by globally recognised brands. IHG currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India and has 72 more scheduled to open over the next three to five years.

Further expanding the industry's development pipeline, Treebo Hospitality Ventures (THV) revealed the signing of a new 50-key Mercure hotel in Mussoorie. The project falls under THV's master franchise arrangement with global hospitality player Accor and InterGlobe. THV's co-founder and CEO, Sidharth Gupta, remarked that Mussoorie remains a compelling destination due to its natural landscape and established popularity among leisure travellers. He added that partnering with Accor would enable the delivery of an international-standard hospitality product offering modern comfort while reflecting the character of the hill station. THV currently operates more than 800 hotels across 120 cities in India.
