Pune airport saw a series of disruptions when IndiGo cancelled 42 flights within a single day, while other airlines operated normally. Passenger movement continued steadily, with more than 5,000 arrivals and nearly 4,800 departures handled despite disruptions affecting only IndiGo. The airline diverted one Nagpur-Pune flight to Hyderabad due to Flight Duty Time Limitations and stated that this day would see the highest number of cancellations as it worked to reset its schedules. Airport authorities monitored apron use, coordinated with multiple agencies, and assured travellers that efforts were underway to stabilise operations.
Pune airport witnessed restricted disruptions when IndiGo cancelled a total of 42 inbound and outbound flights within a single day, while maintaining seven arrivals and seven departures. The cancellations occurred over a period ending late this past week, according to the airport spokesperson.
Airport operations across other carriers remained stable, with all scheduled flights of Air India, SpiceJet, AIX, Akasa Air, Star Air and Fly91 running without interruption. During the same period, the airport managed 31 arrivals and 31 departures, handling 5,122 arriving passengers and 4,805 departing passengers.
IndiGo continued to face nationwide operational issues that have affected hundreds of its services over the past several days. One Nagpur-Pune flight was also diverted to Hyderabad because of Flight Duty Time Limitations. No disruptions were reported by any other carrier.
Operational teams across the airport including security staff, terminal management, ground handlers and airlines were fully deployed to support passenger flow and maintain turnaround timelines. Apron use was monitored throughout the day to ensure aircraft stand allocation remained smooth and to avoid secondary delays.
Airport officials said they were coordinating closely with the Indian Air Force base, which houses the airport, along with Air Traffic Control, CISF, service partners and airline teams to reduce congestion and assist travellers. Authorities acknowledged the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their cooperation.
IndiGo stated that this day was expected to record the highest volume of cancellations as the airline attempted to reset its systems. The airline mentioned through its public communication that short-term cancellations were being carried out to ease pressure at airports and enable gradual improvement from the following day. It also noted that the larger operational issue could not be resolved immediately and expressed regret over the passenger discomfort.
