Synopsis

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the second phase of land pooling for Amaravati, allowing the APCRDA to assemble 16,666.57 acres from seven villages. The newly pooled land will support key infrastructure, including an inner ring road, a new railway station with tracks, and an international-standard sports city. Officials also noted that future plans may include an international airport and smart-industry zones. Under the land-pooling model, farmers who contribute land receive developed residential or commercial plots in return, with some government land also being integrated. This phase builds on earlier rounds and forms part of the broader vision to develop Amaravati into a modern, well-planned capital region.

The State Cabinet recently approved the second phase of land pooling for Amaravati, authorising the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to pool 16,666.57 acres from seven villages: Vaikuntapuram, Pedda Madduru, Endrai, Karlapudi, Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram and Pedaparimi.

This additional land is intended to accommodate major infrastructure projects - including an inner ring road, new railway facilities (station and tracks), and a large international-standard sports city. The broader plan also contemplates future use of pooled land for amenities such as an international airport and smart-industry zones, reflecting a long-term vision for comprehensive urban growth.

Under the land-pooling scheme, farmer-landowners offering their land will receive developed plots - residential or commercial - as part of a benefit-sharing agreement. The scheme also allows for integration of certain government-owned lands (including hilly terrain), underscoring the scale and ambition of the expansion.

This phase builds upon previous land-pooling rounds, forming part of a larger effort to systematically assemble land for Amaravati's planned redevelopment into a futuristic capital region with robust infrastructure, urban amenities and employment opportunities.
