The Andhra Pradesh government has cleared the allotment of 480 acres in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli to Adani Infra (India) Pvt. Ltd., a notified partner of Raiden Infotech India, a Google company. The land will be used to build 1 GW AI data centres, among the largest in the country. Raiden is investing over INR 87,500 crore in the state and will receive INR 22,000 crore in incentives, with benefits also sought for its partner firms. The centres will follow global Google standards and require massive power, equal to about half of Mumbai's annual usage. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said Google's India investment commitment has risen to USD 15 billion.
The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allocation of 480 acres of land in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts to Adani Infra (India) Pvt Ltd, designated as a notified partner of Raiden Infotech India, a Google company. The land will be used to develop 1 GW AI data centres, one of the largest such projects in the country. Raiden had earlier informed the state that Adani Infra, AdaniConneX, Adani Power, Bharti Airtel, Nxtra Data and Nxtra Vizag Ltd would serve as its notified partners, and specifically requested that the identified land parcels be allotted to Adani Infra after survey and handover formalities.
According to the government order issued on December 2, the cabinet approved the transfer of land following Raiden's proposal. The company is building the data centres in phases, with a cumulative investment of over INR 87,500 crore in Andhra Pradesh. Over time, it will receive INR 22,000 crore in incentives under commitments made by the state government for promoting large-scale digital infrastructure. Raiden has also asked that incentives be extended not only to itself but also to its notified partners involved in the project.
The data centres will be constructed to the same standards that support global Google services such as Search, YouTube and Workspace. With a planned capacity of 1 GW, the upcoming facility in Visakhapatnam is expected to consume power equivalent to nearly 50 percent of Mumbai's annual electricity usage, highlighting its scale. Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu recently noted that Google's earlier investment plan of USD 10 billion has now increased to USD 15 billion, reinforcing the state's growing role in India's digital infrastructure expansion.
