The MMRDA plans to start the tender process for Mumbai Metro Line 10 by December 15. The 9.718 km elevated corridor, costing INR 8,000 crore, will connect Gaimukh in Thane to Shivaji Chowk in Mira-Bhayandar and feature five stations. Crossing forest and hilly areas, the project requires multiple environmental and engineering clearances. It will integrate with existing metro lines and include a depot at Mogharpada. Expected to be completed by 2030, Metro Line 10 is designed to reduce congestion and improve commuter connectivity along key routes.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to invite tenders for Mumbai Metro Line 10 by December 15, according to Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. The upcoming 9.718 km fully elevated corridor, estimated at INR 8,000 crore, will connect Gaimukh in Thane with Shivaji Chowk in Mira?Bhayandar, covering key residential and commercial areas. The corridor will feature five stations Gaimukh Reti Bandar, Chena Village, Varsava Village, Kashimira, and Miragaon improving access for daily commuters and linking several important hubs.
The project is passing through forest land, hill slopes, and ghat regions, requiring multiple environmental and engineering clearances. Officials have emphasized that the technical design will need to accommodate smooth track curves and maintain a minimum 6.5?metre clearance above existing roads. This will involve careful adjustments to the terrain to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Metro Line 10 will integrate with the existing network, offering interchange at Gaimukh with Mumbai Metro Line 4A and at Miragaon with Mumbai Metro Line 9. Additionally, a depot is planned at Mogharpada, which will facilitate train maintenance and operational support. The corridor is expected to significantly reduce traffic pressure on Ghodbunder Road and other congested routes connecting Thane and Mira?Bhayandar.
Construction is projected to take about three years once it begins, aiming for completion around 2030. Experts believe that, upon completion, the corridor will provide smoother, faster, and more reliable connectivity, benefiting thousands of daily commuters.
