Bihar Chief Shri Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed the Danapur-Bihta elevated corridor and the Sherpur-Dighwara Ganga bridge this week and asked officials to speed up the remaining work. Authorities briefed him that construction on both projects is progressing without major hurdles. The Danapur-Bihta corridor is planned to improve access between Patna, NH-922, Koilwar bridge and the upcoming Bihta International Airport. The Sherpur-Dighwara bridge will link with JP Ganga Path, offering a smoother route towards Chhapra, Siwan, Gopalganj and Hajipur, helping reduce traffic inside Patna.
Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar conducted an on-site review of two major infrastructure works in Patna: the Danapur-Bihta elevated corridor and the Sherpur-Dighwara Ganga bridge. During the inspection, he instructed engineers and senior officials to ensure that the pace of work remains steady so that both projects can be completed within the planned timeline.
At the Danapur-Bihta corridor site, project authorities informed him that construction activities are moving forward smoothly and there are no significant issues delaying progress. This corridor is designed to improve direct connectivity between Patna city and NH-922, the Koilwar bridge, and nearby regions. It will also act as a key link to the Ring Road at Kanhauli Mor, NH-139 and the AIIMS Patna roundabout. Another important purpose of this corridor is to provide convenient road access to the upcoming Bihta International Airport, which is expected to handle increased passenger movement once operational.
The Chief Minister also inspected the Sherpur-Dighwara Ganga bridge, where officials reported that the ongoing work has been receiving full support from the state government. Once completed, the bridge will connect directly to the JP Ganga Path and offer an alternative route for commuters travelling towards Chhapra, Siwan, Gopalganj and Hajipur. This route will allow people to bypass central Patna, which is likely to ease traffic pressure on the city's busy stretches and improve travel time for long-distance commuters.
Senior officers accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit, highlighting the close monitoring of these developments. Both projects are seen as important for Patna's long-term connectivity and are being treated as priority works to ensure steady regional movement and reduced congestion.
