The Rajasthan government has unveiled the "Developed Rajasthan @ 2047 Vision Document", outlining a roadmap to achieve a USD 4.3 trillion economy through four key pillars agriculture, industry, tourism, and renewable energy. The plan includes targets for 2030, 2035, and 2040, focusing on 13 sectors covering social welfare, infrastructure, governance, and economic growth. Major goals include increasing manufacturing's share in Gross State Value Added (GSVA) to 20 %, raising women's workforce participation beyond 60 %, and expanding the state's domestic tourism share to 15 %. The strategy also targets improved life expectancy, reduced infant mortality, and universal literacy, aligning with India's national vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
The Rajasthan government recently launched the "Developed Rajasthan @ 2047 Vision Document", laying out a comprehensive plan to make the state a developed economy by 2047. The plan envisions Rajasthan emerging as a USD 4.3 trillion economy by then, powered by four core sectors agriculture, industry, tourism, and renewable energy. The vision aims to position the state as a major economic contributor in line with India's national target of achieving developed nation status by its 100th year of independence.
The document is structured around four broad pillars: social welfare, rapid economic growth, world-class infrastructure, and efficient governance. These are further divided into 13 focus sectors that guide development across both urban and rural regions. The roadmap includes mid-term milestones for 2030, 2035, and 2040 to monitor progress and ensure accountability.
Under the economic growth component, the government has targeted a rise in manufacturing's share of GSVA to 20 % by 2047. The vision also seeks to increase industrial capacity, strengthen the MSME ecosystem, and attract private investments through schemes such as the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS) and the MSME Policy 2024. These initiatives are designed to create a more competitive industrial base while supporting job creation across districts.
Social and human development indicators form another key aspect of the plan. The state aims to raise life expectancy to 77 years and reduce infant mortality to below 10 per 1,000 births. The document also outlines measures to achieve universal literacy, ensure quality healthcare access, and improve nutritional standards, especially among women and children.
The vision emphasizes greater inclusion of women in the workforce, targeting participation of over 60 %. It also plans to expand the state's share in domestic tourism to 15 %, positioning Rajasthan as a top tourism destination while preserving its cultural heritage and promoting sustainable practices.
On the infrastructure front, the plan highlights the need for modern urban infrastructure, reliable water management, improved connectivity, and renewable energy adoption to support industrial and social goals. Rajasthan's strong renewable energy base particularly solar power has been identified as a major growth driver, aligning with India's clean energy commitments.
Rajasthan's economic performance in recent years provides a solid foundation for this long-term plan. In 2023-24, the industrial sector contributed around 28.2 % to the state's GSVA, with manufacturing accounting for the largest share within it. The state has also made progress in areas like road connectivity, digital infrastructure, and ease of doing business, all of which are expected to support its 2047 objectives.
The document aligns closely with India's national goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, reinforcing Rajasthan's role in contributing to the country's overall economic transformation. The state government has indicated that coordinated policy measures, institutional reforms, and private-sector collaboration will be essential for translating the vision into measurable outcomes.
