Ujjivan Small Finance Bank's Hello Ujjivan app has facilitated financial transactions exceeding INR 690 crore since its launch, enabling digital banking access for first-time microfinance users. The app, primarily catering to women borrowers, integrates voice, visual, and vernacular features in 11 Indian languages, ensuring accessibility across literacy levels. With over 13 lakh downloads, Hello Ujjivan supports loan repayments, deposits, and insurance purchases, while promoting financial literacy through its Digital Diksha feature. Ujjivan SFB plans to expand the app's capabilities by FY26 to further drive financial inclusion and customer engagement.

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank's Hello Ujjivan app has recorded financial transactions amounting to over INR 690 crore since its launch, marking a major step in bringing digital banking access to first-time microbanking customers. Designed specifically for microfinance users, both group and individual borrowers, the app has become an essential tool bridging the gap between financial exclusion and empowerment.

The mobile banking platform, with more than 13 lakh downloads, has seen remarkable engagement from its user base, of which 98 per cent are women with an average age of 35 years. It has enabled INR 277 crore in loan repayments, INR 358 crore in deposits through fixed and recurring accounts, and INR 34 crore in individual loan disbursements. Additionally, over 36,000 Hospicare insurance policies worth INR 2.4 crore have been facilitated. More than five lakh loan disbursement acknowledgements have been completed digitally, reducing the need for in-person branch visits and reflecting a growing shift towards digital financial behaviour among users previously unfamiliar with formal banking systems.

Recognised as India's first "voice-visual-vernacular" mobile banking app, Hello Ujjivan has been developed with accessibility as a key focus. It combines voice assistance, visual guidance, and multilingual functionality across 11 Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Assamese, Odia, and English. This approach allows customers to perform essential banking activities such as loan acknowledgements, repayments, savings, and insurance independently in their preferred language and mode of interaction.

The app also facilitates full individual loan journeys, pre-approved and top-up disbursements, and fund transfers via NEFT and IMPS, processing over INR 20 crore in such transactions. Through its Digital Diksha feature, Hello Ujjivan promotes financial literacy by helping customers from unserved and underserved communities plan, track, and manage their financial goals, with real-time progress monitoring and reminders encouraging long-term discipline.

According to Vibhas Chandra, Head of Micro Banking and Gold Loan at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, the adoption of Hello Ujjivan reflects true financial empowerment for microbanking customers. He noted that the app's user-friendly design, security features, and service range have helped users build trust and confidence in digital banking while enabling them to take greater control of their finances.

Following its success, Ujjivan SFB plans to roll out new features by FY26 to enhance convenience, deepen customer engagement, and strengthen digital adoption within the microbanking segment. Hello Ujjivan has received multiple awards for bridging the digital divide, including the Aegis Graham Bell Award for Innovation in Consumer Tech recognised by MEITY, the SKOCH Award for Digital Consumer Application, and the Business Today Best Banks Award for Technology Innovation. It was also a finalist at MIT Solve, a global platform for social innovation.

The bank now aims to position Hello Ujjivan as a digital accelerator to improve collection efficiency, streamline loan disbursements, and drive cross-selling opportunities across its microbanking portfolio.

By blending accessibility, multilingual support, and financial education, the app has transformed how first-time borrowers engage with formal banking. Its widespread adoption among women customers signifies not only digital progress but also growing financial confidence among underserved groups. As Ujjivan SFB expands Hello Ujjivan's capabilities in the coming years, it continues to establish a sustainable model for inclusive, technology-driven banking in India's grassroots financial ecosystem.
