Synopsis

NTPC has announced plans to start commercial operations of a 9.9 MW wind power unit at Bhuj in Gujarat shortly. The capacity is part of a 92.4 MW project developed by a group company under NTPC Green Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC. The company confirmed the commercial operation date through a recent regulatory filing. Once operational, NTPC's total installed and commercial generation capacity will increase to 84,049 MW, reinforcing its efforts to expand renewable energy within its overall portfolio.

NTPC has stated that commercial operations of a 9.9 MW wind power project in Bhuj, Gujarat, will commence shortly. In its recent filing to the stock exchanges, the company mentioned that the capacity belongs to a group company under NTPC Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary focused on renewable projects.

The 9.9 MW capacity forms part of a larger 92.4 MW wind power project being developed in Bhuj. The commercial operation date for this portion marks an important phase in gradually bringing the entire project online. The remaining capacity will be added in stages as construction progresses and grid readiness is achieved.

With this new addition, NTPC Group's total installed and commercially operational capacity will reach 84,049 MW. The company's growing renewable portfolio includes several wind, solar, and hybrid power projects under development across different states. NTPC has been expanding its clean energy footprint in line with its strategy to diversify beyond thermal generation and support India's long-term renewable energy goals.

The project is part of NTPC's wider plan to achieve 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032. NTPC Green Energy Limited, which oversees the company's solar, wind, and green hydrogen ventures, plays a key role in this transition. The Bhuj project is expected to contribute to the overall renewable mix of the NTPC Group once fully operational.
