Synopsis

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has opened crossover traffic at the Ranenagar underpass in Nashik to ease congestion. The underpass, linking Ambad and Ranenagar, had been closed since July for expansion, which includes two additional lanes on each side. Commuters had to take a detour of 1.5-2 km during closure. The construction of connecting ramps is in progress, expected to be completed by the end of November. Upon completion, the underpass will improve traffic flow for both commercial and residential areas.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has recently initiated crossover traffic at the Ranenagar underpass in Nashik. The underpass had been closed since July to allow for expansion work aimed at accommodating the growing traffic in the area. The project involves adding two extra lanes on both sides and extending the underpass to improve vehicle movement and reduce congestion.

The underpass is a key link between the Ambad and Ranenagar areas, which are densely populated with both commercial establishments and residential complexes. During the closure, commuters had to take a detour of around 1.5 to 2 kilometers, causing inconvenience. The crossover traffic arrangement now allows vehicles to navigate past the construction zone without major disruption.

Construction of the connecting ramps, which are crucial for seamless entry and exit from the underpass, is still underway. NHAI officials have indicated that these ramps are expected to be completed by the end of November. Once ready, they will enhance traffic efficiency and significantly reduce bottlenecks, benefiting daily commuters and commercial transport in the region.

The expansion of the Ranenagar underpass is part of NHAI's broader efforts to strengthen infrastructure along the Mumbai-Agra highway. After this project, NHAI plans to widen the Indiranagar underpass, located about 2 kilometers away. These improvements are aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving commuting experiences for both residents and businesses.
