Synopsis

Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) has secured a USD 225.5 million contract from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to build, operate, and manage a gas sweetening and sulphur recovery facility in Kuwait. The project will handle sour gas at around 120 million standard cubic feet per day, with completion in 790 days and a subsequent five-year operation and maintenance period. KOC also holds an option to buy back the facility. The order reflects MEIL's ongoing efforts to expand its footprint in the Middle East, complementing its past international projects.

Indian multi-sector infrastructure firm Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) has been awarded a USD 225.5 million contract by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to construct, operate, and manage a new gas sweetening and sulphur recovery facility in Kuwait's oilfields. According to the company, the agreement includes an option for KOC to repurchase the facility after development.

The project is planned for completion within 790 days and will be followed by five years of operation and maintenance. The facility is designed to process sour gas at a rate of approximately 120 million standard cubic feet per day, supporting Kuwait's efforts to enhance its gas processing capabilities and meet growing energy demands.

MEIL has a history of executing large-scale projects both in India and abroad. In recent years, it has undertaken key assignments including the construction of electrical reactors for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and setting up a crude refinery in Mongolia. Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Hyderabad, the company has steadily expanded its presence in the Middle East, focusing on delivering complex engineering, procurement, and construction solutions.

The latest contract strengthens MEIL's international portfolio and underscores its strategic approach to growth in the energy and infrastructure sectors. By combining construction and operational management under a single project, the company is expected to deliver an advanced facility capable of treating sour gas efficiently while meeting KOC's operational standards. This award also signals confidence in MEIL's technical capabilities and its ability to manage large, long-term projects in the region.
