Infrastructure firm Ganesh Infraworld is set to begin two major water and sewerage treatment projects worth INR 105.77 crore in Jammu & Kashmir later this year. The initiatives, focused on the Srinagar-Budgam region, aim to enhance water management and sewage systems under the government's broader modernisation programme. The company is currently awaiting final approvals before work commences in December.

Infrastructure company Ganesh Infraworld is preparing to initiate two significant water and sewerage treatment projects worth INR 105.77 crore in Jammu & Kashmir later this year, according to Managing Director Vibhoar Agrawal. These initiatives are part of the government's wider efforts to modernise water management and sewage infrastructure across the Union Territory, particularly in the Srinagar-Budgam region, which has witnessed rapid urban expansion and increasing pollution in local water bodies.

Agrawal mentioned that the company was awaiting certain approvals, expected to arrive shortly, following which work would commence from December. The work order involves a complete survey, design, and construction of modern sewerage treatment plants along the Doodh-Ganga Nallah on a turnkey basis, including five years of operations and maintenance. He added that the initiative would serve as a vital step in restoring the ecological balance of one of Jammu & Kashmir's important tributaries while addressing long-standing civic challenges associated with wastewater management.

The two projects include the development of treatment facilities covering the Baghi-Mehtab to Allochi Bagh stretch, valued at INR 44.07 crore, and another between Chadoora and Baghi-Mehtab, worth INR 61.70 crore. Commenting on project challenges, Agrawal noted that the terrain posed logistical and climatic difficulties but emphasised its importance as one of the most sensitive and strategic regions from an infrastructure standpoint.

Kolkata-based Ganesh Infraworld is known for its expertise in civil and electrical works, roads and railways, and water infrastructure development.

The upcoming projects by Ganesh Infraworld signify a substantial step towards improving water and wastewater infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir's Srinagar-Budgam region. Once operational, the treatment facilities are expected to play a key role in environmental restoration and public health enhancement, supporting the Union Territory's long-term infrastructure development goals while showcasing the company's growing footprint in critical civic works.
