PWD Minister Parvesh Verma conducted a thorough inspection of several ongoing road and drainage projects in Outer and Dehat Delhi, covering areas like Dhaula Kuan, Najafgarh, Nangloi, Mundka, Karala, and Mangolpur. The review focused on improving connectivity and drainage systems, addressing longstanding infrastructure gaps. Key projects include the transfer of Mundka Road to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the construction of new drainage corridors. The inspection started at Dhaula Kuan metro station and included visits to several key areas such as Najafgarh, Nangloi, Mundka, Karala, and Mangolpur. Verma was accompanied by senior officials from the Public Works Department, Delhi Jal Board, and other relevant agencies to ensure on-ground assessment of project progress.
During the review, Verma noted significant advancement in transferring Mundka Road to the NHAI and the construction of a new drainage system along this corridor. He indicated that within a year, the entire stretch from Punjabi Bagh to the Bahadurgarh border is expected to be fully transformed.
The inspection also focused on critical stretches like UER-II in Najafgarh, Nangloi-Najafgarh Road, Rohtak Road in Mundka, Rani Khera underpass, Ghevra Road, and Karala-Kanjhawala Road. These areas have faced persistent issues with poor drainage and connectivity. The ongoing projects are expected to comprehensively resolve these challenges, enhancing road safety and urban mobility.
Minister Verma emphasized the importance of timely completion and close monitoring of these projects to improve residents' daily commute and reduce flooding risks during monsoon seasons. The ongoing work demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening infrastructure in Outer and rural parts of Delhi and improving the overall living conditions for residents.
