Synopsis

Bhopal Metro is entering its final phase before starting public operations, with the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) conducting final inspections on the priority corridor. The focus is on eight key stations linking Subhash Nagar Depot to AIIMS Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) has completed most infrastructure work and is now finalizing safety systems, passenger amenities, and aesthetic enhancements. Once the CMRS approvals are obtained, the metro is set to provide a modern, efficient urban transport option, enhancing connectivity across the city.

Bhopal Metro is moving closer to opening for public use, with the last round of inspections by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) underway. The ongoing checks are concentrated on the priority corridor, covering eight major stations between Subhash Nagar Depot and AIIMS Bhopal, which will form the backbone of the initial metro service.

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) is actively overseeing the final preparations. Managing Director S. Krishna Chaitanya recently led an on-site inspection along the priority corridor, assessing lifts, escalators, fire safety systems, power supply, telecom networks, control rooms, entry and exit points, restrooms, and security arrangements. The inspection also reviewed station aesthetics and overall passenger readiness.

The CMRS inspections are structured in phases, with the first phase focusing on the priority corridor and the second phase set to cover the remaining sections of the metro network. These evaluations are essential to ensure all safety and operational standards are met before the metro begins carrying passengers.

Bhopal Metro has seen substantial progress over the past years, from construction of tracks and stations to installation of power and signaling systems. With the completion of infrastructure and safety checks, the metro is on track to become the city's first operational rapid transit system. It promises to improve daily commuting, reduce traffic congestion, and provide a reliable and efficient alternative to existing road transport.
