Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath recently handed over keys to 160 families in Gorakhpur under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Lower Income Group (LIG) housing scheme developed by the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA). The flats, allotted through a transparent lottery process from over 9,000 applications, include 80 EWS and 80 LIG units, priced well below market rates. Alongside, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation for 50 development projects worth INR 118 crore, highlighting the state's focus on infrastructure and community welfare.
Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath distributed keys to 160 families under the EWS and LIG housing scheme at Palm Paradise on the Deoria Bypass in Gorakhpur, ahead of Diwali. The initiative, developed by the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA), includes 80 flats for the economically weaker section and 80 for the lower-income group. The allocation process was transparent, with 40 flats reserved for displaced families and 120 selected through a lottery from more than 9,000 applications.
EWS flats, measuring 35 square meters, were offered at INR 5.4 lakh, significantly below the market value of INR 13-15 lakh. LIG flats of 41 square meters were priced at INR 10.8 lakh, compared to the market rate of INR 19-20 lakh. The CM highlighted that around 700-800 people directly benefit from this project, calling it a life-changing initiative that gives families the security of homeownership.
In addition to the housing distribution, Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation for 50 development projects worth INR 118 crore. These projects aim to enhance infrastructure and improve public amenities in the area. The CM also emphasized forming maintenance committees for high-rise upkeep and commended the flats' location near Ramgarh Tal and the local zoo. He underlined that Uttar Pradesh has provided over 6 million homes and that honest governance enables even the poor to dream big.
