The Karnataka government is preparing to distribute 42,346 houses in Hubballi under the Slum Development Board's housing initiative. Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah will oversee the distribution event, which will take place on a 17-18 acre site capable of hosting approximately 1.5 lakh people. The project aims to provide affordable housing to economically weaker sections of society, ensuring access to safe and permanent homes.

Construction of each house has been estimated at around INR 7.5 lakh. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the central government contributes INR 1.5 lakh per house but recovers INR 1.3 lakh from beneficiaries through an 18% GST. To ease the financial burden on the poor, the Karnataka government has decided to fully cover the beneficiary contributions. General beneficiaries will receive INR 1.5 lakh, while Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries will get INR 2 lakh, ensuring that no beneficiary will have to pay out-of-pocket costs for these homes.

The overall cost of constructing 2.3 lakh houses across the state is estimated at INR 9,500 crore, which the state government will entirely fund. Housing Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan clarified that the term "November revolution" mentioned in media reports is not official and emphasized that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will complete his full term. He also addressed party matters, noting that the Congress party is functioning without internal conflicts, unlike the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is experiencing some internal factionalism.

This housing initiative is part of a broader effort by the Karnataka government to improve living conditions and provide long-term housing solutions for economically disadvantaged communities. By covering all beneficiary contributions, the government ensures that financial constraints do not prevent eligible families from accessing permanent homes. The project highlights the state's focus on inclusive development and social welfare, aiming to strengthen the quality of life for underprivileged populations across Karnataka.
