The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation undertook decisive action against unauthorised constructions in the Airoli division earlier this week. Acting on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr Kailas Gaikwad, the encroachment department carried out a demolition drive to remove illegal huts erected on the proposed site of a sewage treatment plant beside NMMC School No. 77 at Yadavnagar in the Airoli division.
The operation, executed under the direction of Assistant Commissioner and Divisional Officer Sunil Kathole, saw the participation of officials and staff from the encroachment department of the G Division Office. The team included eight labourers, two JCB machines, one dumper, and police personnel who were deployed to maintain order during the demolition.
Authorities stated that similar anti-encroachment drives would continue to be conducted more rigorously in the coming period to curb illegal developments across the city.
Through its recent demolition in Airoli, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining planned urban development and protecting public land from unauthorised encroachments. Officials indicated that such operations would be carried out more aggressively in future to ensure that civic projects, including infrastructure developments like sewage treatment plants, proceed without obstruction from illegal structures.
