Anthropic, the AI startup behind Claude models, is set to invest USD 50 billion in U.S. data centers, beginning with Texas and New York and expanding further in the future. The project will create 800 permanent and 2,400 construction jobs as operations commence throughout 2026. Supported by Google's parent Alphabet and Amazon, Anthropic aligns its expansion with national AI priorities, reinforcing U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence. Founded by ex-OpenAI staff, the company serves over 300,000 enterprise clients and is valued at USD 183 billion.
AI startup Anthropic has announced plans to invest USD 50 billion in building data centers across the United States, marking another significant investment in the growing AI infrastructure sector. The company, known for its Claude AI models, said it would develop the facilities in partnership with infrastructure provider Fluidstack, starting in Texas and New York, with additional sites planned for the future. These data centers are being custom-built to support Anthropic's specific AI operations.
The investment comes amid a broader trend of tech companies committing billions to expand their U.S. footprint, aligning with government initiatives to strengthen domestic AI capabilities. Earlier this year, former President Donald Trump directed his administration to develop an AI Action Plan aimed at positioning the U.S. as a global leader in artificial intelligence. Several major American firms had already announced substantial AI and energy investments during Trump's tech and AI summit in July.
Anthropic expects the project to generate approximately 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs as the new data centers become operational throughout 2026. The company highlighted that this investment will support the goals of the AI Action Plan by reinforcing American leadership in AI and strengthening domestic technology infrastructure.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Anthropic is backed by Alphabet, the parent company of Google, and Amazon.com. The startup was valued at USD 183 billion in early September. Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic currently serves more than 300,000 enterprise customers, and its Claude large language models are recognized as some of the most advanced in the market.
