Synopsis

A 45-day lane-closure programme has begun on the stretch of New Rohtak Road between Kamal T-Point and Zakhira Flyover (towards Punjabi Bagh) as the Delhi Jal Board carries out drainage maintenance in the Anand Parbat area. Two lanes will be closed daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and commuters are being advised to use an alternate route via Veer Banda Bairagi Marg through Inderlok. Traffic is likely to be heavy and slow during this period.

Traffic movement on the stretch of New Rohtak Road between Kamal T-Point and Zakhira Flyover towards Punjabi Bagh will be affected for the next 45 days due to ongoing drain-maintenance work by the Delhi Jal Board. The restrictions began from the 9th of this month and will run daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. in that area. During this time, two lanes on the specified stretch will remain closed to facilitate the drainage work in the Anand Parbat locality.

Authorities have issued a traffic advisory noting that due to the maintenance work traffic is expected to remain heavy and slow in the affected zone. Commuters heading toward Punjabi Bagh or West Delhi via New Rohtak Road are being advised to turn right at Kamal T-Point onto Veer Banda Bairagi Marg and proceed through Inderlok as an alternate route.

This stretch of New Rohtak Road has been subject to periodic maintenance and drainage-improvement efforts before, reflecting longstanding challenges with water-logging and surface condition in the area. The current drain-maintenance effort is part of the attempt to reduce recurring congestion and water accumulation in heavy-rain periods.

Motorists, public transport operators and residents in the surrounding areas are being advised to plan their routes accordingly and allow extra time for travel during the lane-closure hours. The work is likely to cause slower movement and greater delays until it is completed.
