Welspun Enterprises Ltd (WEL) stated earlier this week that it had won a major order worth INR 3,145 crore to design, build, and operate a 910 MLD water treatment plant in Panjrapur, Maharashtra. The company mentioned that the upcoming facility would significantly boost Mumbai's water supply network through advanced technologies aimed at ensuring sustainable and efficient operations.

The firm has collaborated with Veolia, a global leader in water management technology, which will serve as the project's technology provider. According to WEL, the scope of the project covers civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation works, along with the development of a treated water sump and a pumping station.

As per the company's statement, the total contract value includes an operation and maintenance component worth INR 1,156 crore, excluding a provisional sum of INR 29 crore. The design and build phase is expected to be completed within 48 months, after which the company will manage and maintain the plant for a 15-year period.

Following the award of this order, Welspun Enterprises confirmed that its consolidated order book had reached approximately INR 16,330 crore.

The Panjrapur water treatment project marks a substantial addition to Welspun Enterprises' portfolio, reinforcing its role in India's urban infrastructure development. With Veolia's technological expertise and a long-term operational commitment, the initiative is expected to contribute significantly to Mumbai's growing water demand while ensuring sustainability and efficiency. The project also strengthens WEL's position in the water management sector, adding considerable value to its existing order book and enhancing its future growth prospects.
