The operator of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Apollo Hospitals have signed an agreement to deliver round-the-clock medical services for both airport staff and passengers. Apollo Hospitals will establish multiple 24x7 medical centres at Terminal 1, with emergency medical support and disaster-management facilities staffed by Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support-certified professionals. Two fully equipped intensive-care ambulances will be stationed on-site, and 65 automated external defibrillators will also be placed throughout the terminals. Commercial flight operations at NMIA are expected to begin shortly.
The operator of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), operated by Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL), has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Apollo Hospitals to provide continuous medical services for airport employees and travellers. The airport, which was inaugurated earlier this month, is poised to begin commercial flight operations in the near future.
Under the partnership, Apollo Hospitals will help set up six 24-hour medical centres at Terminal 1. According to NMIAL's statement, each centre will be equipped with emergency medical and disaster-response facilities and will be staffed by a team comprising three medically certified doctors, eight nurses and two drivers all having Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
To boost medical emergency readiness, the airport will have two fully equipped ICU ambulances stationed on-site and ready to respond immediately. Additionally, 65 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) will be strategically installed across terminal buildings to support cardiac emergencies and rapid intervention.
This healthcare infrastructure forms part of NMIA's broader preparedness strategy as it moves toward full-scale commercial operations. The airport is being developed as a major new hub for the Mumbai metropolitan region, under a public-private partnership led by NMIAL.
