Synopsis

The engineering firm Texmaco Rail & Engineering secured two infrastructure contracts totalling around INR 78 crore. One order of INR 44.61 crore comes from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation for the PCMC-Nigdi elevated extension of the Pune Metro, covering design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 25 kV flexible overhead catenary system, 33 kV auxiliary sub-station and SCADA systems, to be completed in 110 weeks. The other order of INR 33.89 crore is from Central Railway for the Ahmadnagar-Beed-Parli new broad gauge line involving a 132 kV/55 kV Scott connected transformer system, to be completed in 12 months. These wins build upon Texmaco's long track record in rail electrification and infrastructure.

The engineering company Texmaco Rail & Engineering has added two orders from Indian rail infrastructure agencies to its portfolio. In the first, it has been awarded a contract of INR 44.61 crore by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) for work on the PCMC-Nigdi elevated extension of the Pune Metro. The contract covers the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 25 kV flexible overhead catenary system, sectioning posts, a 33 kV auxiliary sub-station and SCADA systems. The project is scheduled to be completed within 110 weeks.

In the second contract, Texmaco was awarded INR 33.89 crore by Central Railway for the Ahmadnagar-Beed-Parli new broad gauge line. The scope includes design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 132 kV/55 kV Scott connected transformer system, and the timeline for completion is 12 months.

According to a company statement, these orders enhance Texmaco's participation in India's rail electrification and infrastructure development programmes. The company noted that its in-house R&D and manufacturing capabilities support the goals of the national 'Make in India' and 'Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' initiatives.

Texmaco operates across three business segments: Freight Cars; Rail Infrastructure and Green Energy; and Infra-Electrical, with manufacturing sites in West Bengal, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. It has produced freight cars and components for Indian Railways, also serving private and export markets, and has joint ventures with global firms. Historically, its Rail EPC division has specialised in railway electrification, power distribution and overhead-equipment works for both metros and mainline rail.

These latest contracts come at a time when upgrades in urban metro networks and rail overhead electrification in India are gaining pace, reflecting broader infrastructure policy priorities.
