Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of SpaceX, has taken a significant step towards strengthening its local presence by leasing an office in Mumbai earlier this week. The office, spread across 1,294 sq ft of carpet area on the ground floor of the Boomerang commercial property in Chandivali, has been secured for a five-year tenure. The lease agreement, registered recently, reveals that the company will pay a monthly rent of approximately INR 3.52 lakh, subject to an annual escalation of 5 %, alongside a security deposit of INR 31.70 lakh.

Starlink has been awaiting key regulatory clearances from the Department of Telecommunications to commence satellite broadband services across India. The leasing decision coincides with the company's plans to establish nine gateway earth stations across the country, with Mumbai identified as one of the proposed locations.

The move also aligns with a broader trend of global technology and communication firms expanding their presence in India, drawn by the country's vast consumer base, rising internet penetration, and demand for high-speed connectivity. With India emerging as one of the most promising markets for next-generation communication technology, the company's choice of location signals confidence in long-term growth prospects.
