Earlier, the Karnataka government had set up a dedicated recovery cell under the state's revenue department to execute K-RERA orders and to treat the outstanding amounts as land-revenue arrears. However, progress had remained limited due to procedural delays and insufficient inter-departmental coordination. The renewed effort, with police involvement, aims to address those bottlenecks and signal a more assertive stance on compliance.
By bringing law-enforcement agencies directly into the recovery process, the government seeks to send a clear message to errant developers that non-compliance will attract swift consequences. If implemented effectively, the collaboration could streamline the execution of RERA orders, revive stalled consumer claims, and rebuild confidence in the state's real-estate oversight.
