Synopsis

Samhi Hotels Ltd announced that the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has approved an extension to the development timeline for its 700-room hotel project near Navi Mumbai International Airport and DY Patil Stadium. The first phase of the development will include 400 rooms. Planned to be operated under the Westin and Fairfield by Marriott brands, this will be Samhi's largest hotel property by room count and its first in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Samhi Hotels Ltd confirmed earlier this week that the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) had granted an extension for the development timeline of its 700-room hotel project located near Navi Mumbai International Airport and DY Patil Stadium. The approval enables the company to begin work on the development, with Phase 1 set to deliver 400 rooms.

The proposed dual-branded property, expected to operate under the Westin and Fairfield by Marriott brands upon finalisation of definitive agreements, will represent Samhi's largest hotel in terms of room capacity and its debut in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. According to the company, the MIDC's extension ensures development certainty and better alignment of the project's timeline with the area's accelerating commercial activity.

Samhi noted that the dual-brand model would allow it to cater to a broad range of demand drivers such as aviation, corporate, MICE, sports, entertainment, and leisure segments, thereby improving both occupancy and average room rate performance in one of the region's key emerging markets.

Chairman and Managing Director Ashish Jakhanwala stated that by prioritising Phase 1 with 400 rooms, the company would be able to bring high-quality capacity to the market sooner, stay aligned with infrastructure development schedules, and efficiently scale up to the full 700-room capacity later. He added that the project, being the company's single-largest hotel by room count, significantly enhances its portfolio and strengthens its position across key office markets in India.

With the MIDC's approval secured, Samhi Hotels is now positioned to proceed with the Navi Mumbai project, marking its strategic expansion into one of India's most prominent urban corridors. The dual-branded Westin and Fairfield development is expected to serve diverse segments of demand, reflecting the company's focus on scalability and market alignment. Once completed, the hotel will stand as a major milestone in Samhi's growth strategy and portfolio diversification.
