The Haryana government has asked RERA authorities in Gurgaon and Panchkula to fast-track homebuyer grievance redressal and step up monitoring of developers after a review by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi. Despite fewer projects compared to many states, Haryana accounts for nearly 10% of India's pending RERA complaints, with most cases linked to Gurgaon. To clear the backlog, RERA has set up a help desk, will launch online tutorials, and establish mediation cells. Deputy commissioners have been tasked with enforcing recovery certificates, supported by RERA. The government has also ordered stricter compliance checks and warned of zero tolerance towards corruption within the system.
The Haryana government has directed RERA authorities in Gurgaon and Panchkula to fast-track the resolution of homebuyers' grievances and to intensify monitoring of developers, following a review conducted by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi. It was noted that despite having fewer registered projects than many states, Haryana contributes nearly 10 per cent of the country's pending RERA complaints, largely attributed to Gurgaon's scale of real estate activity.
To address the backlog, RERA Gurgaon has created a help desk and has been asked to launch online tutorials to guide homebuyers about their rights. Authorities have also been instructed to establish mediation cells to expedite dispute resolution. Deputy commissioners have been tasked with assisting in the enforcement of recovery certificates.
The Department of Town and Country Planning has been instructed to share the licences of all projects with RERA to ensure regulatory compliance. The government has also flagged corruption concerns within RERA and has announced zero tolerance for malpractices, promising immediate action against officials found guilty.
A recent order by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which stripped RERA of its powers to enforce recovery orders and placed that responsibility on deputy commissioners, was discussed during the review. The matter is currently before the Supreme Court, and in the interim, RERA has been asked to support deputy commissioners in executing recovery certificates.
