Adani Power revealed that it will establish a 2,400 MW ultra super-critical power plant in Bihar with an investment of approximately USD 3 billion. The company has entered into a 25-year Power Supply Agreement with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd., securing a long-term commitment to supply electricity from the facility, which is to be located in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur district.

The agreement follows a Letter of Award issued by BSPGCL on behalf of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. Adani Power secured the project by offering the lowest supply rate at INR 6.075 per KWh. The plant will comprise three units of 800 MW each, along with associated infrastructure, developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate model. The commissioning of the facility is targeted within 60 months.

The coal linkage required for the plant has been allocated under the SHAKTI Policy of the Government of India. The project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for 10,000-12,000 individuals during the construction phase and around 3,000 jobs once operational.

Adani Power, part of the conglomerate led by billionaire Gautam Adani, is India?s largest private thermal power producer, with an installed capacity of 18,110 MW.

Beyond its contribution to the state's power capacity, the project will create thousands of employment opportunities, both during construction and operation. Adani Power's lowest-rate bid and strategic DBFOO approach reflect its commitment to cost-effective energy production and long-term partnership with Bihar's power distribution companies, reinforcing its position as a leading private energy producer in India.
