The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has taken significant steps to address illegal land activities in the Dehradun region. Over the past month, the authority has reclaimed more than 150 bighas of illegally plotted land and sealed several unauthorized multi-storey buildings across various areas, including Bhaniyawala, Haridwar Bypass Road, and Rishikesh.

MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari stated that the increase in unauthorized plotting and encroachments prompted the authority to launch a rigorous demolition and sealing campaign. He emphasized that such actions are part of a broader policy to ensure planned development in the state and will continue in the future.

In Doiwala's Jhabrawala area, 18 bighas of illegal plotting were cleared, while in Dandi village of Ranipokhri, approximately 10 to 12 bighas were reclaimed. In Bhaniyawala's Buxarwala, 25 bighas of illegal plotting were removed, and 40 bighas were cleared near Sai Temple on Haridwar Road in Dehradun. Additional actions were carried out in Sheeshambara and Rupnagar Badripur areas, where 10 bighas and five bighas were demolished, respectively.

Sealing operations were also conducted at various sites, including Majri Grant, Haridwar Road, Nehru Colony, Sahastradhara Road, and Shimla Bypass Hinduwala area. The most significant action occurred in Rishikesh, where more than a dozen multi-storey buildings were sealed in Nirmal Bagh, Virbhadra Road, Koyal Grant, and other locations under MDDA's jurisdiction.

MDDA officials have advised the public to verify land ownership and approvals before purchasing plots and to be cautious of dealings with land mafias. They have also identified several more sites for potential action and have assured that the crackdown will continue to ensure lawful urban development in the region.
